Garret W. Willis has been in the construction business his whole life starting with his grandfather, Otis Willis. Otis started building houses after WWII, while also being a school bus driver for Orleans Parish public schools. The family business continued with Otis’s three sons: Gary, Terry, and Larry. Gary W. Willis, Garret’s father, has continued the legacy of building houses for the last 40 years. His cousin, T. J. Willis, also continued the legacy of his grandfather. Garret worked for his dad and cousin during the summers and free time gaining knowledge and experience in all aspects of the construction industry.
After college, Garret decided to start his career in the familiar construction industry. He has worked for the past 15 years as a building inspector and a drainage inspector in St. Tammy Parish and a building and zoning inspector for the City of New Orleans. He is currently certified to Residential and Commercial Building Inspector and is studying for the Building Official to be able expand the knowledge in the construction. He also currently works for ICEI completing third party inspections in the Metro New Orleans Area.
Garret felt that there was a great need in the City of New Orleans and surrounding areas to help homeowners, contractors, developers, and business owners to navigate the intricate process of getting permits from start to finish. Garret, and his wife Michelle, decided to create G Willis Solutions to lessen the burden for individuals who are trying to renovate, repurpose or expand their home or business.
Garret’s business philosophy is straight forward and honest. He believes that a handshake and communication are at the heart of the business relationship. Garret will be there to assist in any aspect of a project, big or small. He will personally walk you through the particulars in the entire construction process in a timely manner. GWS will be there every step of the way to help the local economy, the customer, and the people of the Greater New Orleans area.
